Are you feeling discouraged because you can’t help noticing sagging skin and unpleasant wrinkles when you look in the mirror? Aging skin loses volume and elasticity, but dermal fillers offer a nonsurgical option to restore shape and fullness to smooth and rejuvenate your appearance. Vera Carlson, MD, PhD, applies her extensive skills and medical expertise to achieve striking results with dermal fillers at Cache Cosmetics & Laser. To learn more or schedule a consultation, call the Providence, Utah, office or book online today.
Dermal fillers are an injectable aesthetic treatment designed to reduce wrinkles, reshape facial contours, and add volume to the skin.
As you age, your body produces less natural hyaluronic acid, the substance that keeps your skin plump and smooth. With less hyaluronic acid present, wrinkles, creases, and the shape of your skull become more apparent.
Fillers contain aesthetic gel made from a modified form of hyaluronic acid. When injected into your skin, they restore fullness, reduce the appearance of wrinkles, and add volume to hollow areas.
Dr. Carlson recommends the JUVÉDERM® line of fillers to address the following:
JUVÉDERM fillers can also enhance your pout by plumping thin lips.
This depends on the amount of filler used, the site of the injection, and other factors. Dr. Carlson may use ice, a topical numbing cream, or a locally-injected anesthetic to make sure you remain comfortable during your procedure.
Most filler treatments take about 15 minutes to complete, after which you can plan to return to work and other activities. However, Dr. Carlson may suggest that you refrain from strenuous exercise for up to 48 hours after your procedure.
You might experience some mild swelling, bruising, or redness right after your treatment. These typically subside within 24 hours. More severe side effects are possible but rare.
How long your fillers last depends on the treated area and how your individual body responds to the procedure. Most fillers last between 6-18 months.
If you’re in reasonably good health and have wrinkles, creases, skin laxity, or thin skin, dermal fillers may be a good option to achieve your aesthetic goals. Patients with a history of severe allergic reactions or specific allergies to lidocaine or gram-positive bacterial proteins may not be candidates for dermal fillers, but you have other options to address your cosmetic concerns.
